§ 12-1. Wards of city.

(a)

Generally. The city shall be divided into four wards.

(b)

Boundaries of wards described.

(1)

First ward. The first ward shall be as follows: All that part of the city lying north of the below-described baseline; commencing at a point where the centerline of Tenth Avenue intersects the west boundary line of the city; thence east along the centerline of Tenth Avenue to a point where the centerline of Main Street intersects same; thence south along the centerline of Main Street to a point where the centerline of Eighth Avenue intersects same; thence east along the centerline of Eighth Avenue to a point where the centerline of the alley between Main Street and First Street East intersects same; thence north along centerline of alley to a point where the centerline of Ninth Avenue intersects same; thence east along centerline of Ninth Avenue to the east boundary of the city.

Second ward. The second ward shall be as follows: Commencing at a point where the centerline of Ninth Avenue intersects the east boundary line of the city; thence west along the centerline of Ninth Avenue to a point where the centerline of alley between First Street East and Main Street intersects same; thence south along the centerline of alley between First Street East and Main Street to a point where the centerline of Eighth Avenue intersects same; thence west along centerline of Eighth Avenue to a point where the centerline of First Street West intersects same; thence south along the centerline of First Street West to a point where the centerline of Sixth Avenue intersects same; thence east along the centerline of Sixth Avenue to a point where the centerline of alley between Main Street and First Street East intersects same; thence south along centerline of alley to a point where centerline of Fifth Avenue intersects same; thence west along centerline of Fifth Avenue to a point where centerline of First Street West intersects same; thence south along centerline of First Street West to the south boundary of city, excepting therefrom the city hall property; thence along the south boundary of city to southeast corner of city; thence north along the boundary of city to the point of beginning.

Third ward. The third ward shall be as follows: Commencing at a point where the centerline of Tenth Avenue intersects the west boundary of the city; thence east along the centerline of Tenth Avenue to a point where the centerline of Main Street intersects same; thence south along the centerline of Main Street to a point where the centerline of Eighth Avenue intersects same; thence west along the centerline of Eighth Avenue to a point where First Street West intersects same; thence south along the centerline of First Street West to a point where the centerline of Sixth Avenue intersects same; thence east along the centerline of Sixth Avenue to a point where the centerline of the alley between Main Street and First Street East intersects same; thence south along centerline of alley to a point where centerline of Fifth Avenue intersects same; thence west along Fifth Avenue to a point where centerline of Fifth Avenue intersects the west boundary of city; thence north along the west boundary line of city to the point of beginning.

Fourth ward. The Fourth Ward shall be as follows: Commencing at a point where the centerline of Fifth Avenue intersects the west boundary line of city; thence east along the centerline of Fifth Avenue to a point where the centerline of First Street West intersects same; thence south along the centerline of First Street West to a point where the centerline intersects the south boundary of city, including that property on which the city hall is situated; thence west along the south boundary line to the southwest corner of city; thence north along the west boundary line to the point of beginning.

(c)

Wards, boundary line to the center of street. For the purpose of this section, the boundaries of the several wards shall be a line in the center of the streets designating the boundaries and the boundary lines of the city, according to the official plat and survey thereof on file and of record in the office of the clerk/treasurer and recorder of the county.
